Spectra ASCII Sensors

The Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII sensors are designed for testing any color LED within the visual spectrum, providing wide band color and intensity test of LEDs with ASCII-formatted serial-digital data output.

Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII Sensors measure LED color wavelength and intensity over a very wide range - without requiring range selection or adjustment.  Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII Sensors can unambiguously and repeatably distinguish between not only adjacent visual colors in the color spectrum, e.g.: green and yellow, but different hues of the same color, regardless of LED intensity. 

For the intensity measurements, Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII sensors provide exceptional dynamic range without adjustment, from dim to very bright lamps.

The ASCII-formatted output of the wavelength and intensity read outs of the LED tested can be accessed from the Optomistic Products' PC-Based Test System configuration by using a Windows Hyper-Terminal program (or any other program that can act as a serial port terminal) which reduces test time and provides automatic data logging for statistical process control (SPC).

The Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII sensor provides a solution for the issues that can arise when determining certain "boundary" colors under test, by providing the convenience of a user-assigned visual color.  This works well for "pastel" colors, such as a whitish-blue, or a boundary color such as reddish-orange.

As with all of our LightProbes, the Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII sensors may utilize any one of our wide variety of fiber-optic probes.

LED Color Response

The Universal LightProbe Spectra ASCII Sensors test the color of LEDs over the visual range (400 - 700nm), in tenths of nanometers. The output data is ASCII-formatted as a serial digital bit-stream which can be coupled to a PC via an Optomistic Products' USB interface cable for a Windows® HyperTerminal or TeraTerm read-out, for a single LED or for several LEDs and sensors.
