Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensors are uniquely designed for testing any color LED within the visual spectrum. Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensors measure LED color wavelength and intensity over a very wide range – without requiring range selection or adjustment - a perfect solution for testing "boundary" color LEDs.
The Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensors provide separate analog voltage outputs, proportional to LED wavelength and intensity, respectively. The dynamic range for testing intensity extends as high as 1000 mcd for T -1 ¾ diffused LEDs and optional low-sensitivity sensors are available for very bright LEDs.
The Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensor can unambiguously and repeatably distinguish between not only adjacent visual colors in the color spectrum such as green and yellow, but it can determine different hues of the same color such as yellow and amber, regardless of LED intensity. The Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensor addresses the issues that can arise when determining certain "boundary" colors under test, by providing the convenience of a user-assigned visual color. This works well for "pastel" colors, such as a whitish-blue, or a "boundary" color such as reddish-orange. The Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensor is also available with ASCII-formatted, serial-digital output.
As with all of our LightProbes, the Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensors may utilize any one of our wide variety of fiber-optic probes.

The Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensors check any LED color wavelength in the visual band (400 - 700nm) and also white. Unviversal LightProbe Spectra Sensors check the LED color by providing a voltage output, proportional to LED wavelength, thereby eliminating the need to convert LED wavelength as a pulse rate (as in other sensors) which effectively improves the overall response time to test an LED.

The Universal LightProbe Spectra sensors test an exceptionally wide dynamic range of LED intensity, from dim to bright LEDs, without adjustment. This graph shows a typical Universal LightProbe Spectra Sensor intensity response of a yellow LED. For very bright LEDs, low sensitivity (LS) Universal LightProbe Spectra sensors are available.
