Optomistic Products: leading in superior customer solutions for the automated testing of LEDs.

Unicolor Sensors

The Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors are general-purpose sensors that provide a voltage output proportional to LED intensity when the LED is the color specified for the sensor.

Designed to respond to only a specific color, the Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensor will provide an output as an analog voltage proportional to LED intensity only when the LED is the color specified. This eliminates the need to convert LED wavelength to visual color in the ATE software, which effectively improves the overall response time to test an LED.

Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors are programmed to respond to any one of the five main LED colors (blue, green, yellow/amber, orange, red, and also white) and will be insensitive to all other colors.  The Universal LightProbe Unicolor sensor has a single output pin for the correct color and intensity, and there will be no output for the wrong color.

Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors offer increased reliability and versatility as they will operate at any voltage from +5 volts to +40 volts and withstand reverse polarity up to -18 volts without permanent damage. This provides immunity from accidental power supply wiring mistakes and from reverse polarity up to -18 volt "spikes" due to D.C. power line inductive switching transients as well as inadvertent reverse polarity "shorts" testers, while permitting their operation from different D.C. supply voltages commonly encountered in the industry.

Universal LightProbes Unicolor Sensors can utilize either a small aperture or wide aperture fiber-optic probe, with a wide range of fiber-optic probe types to choose from.   The most popular choice is the Trident, with up to three small aperture fiber-optic probes in a single sensor, enabling the sequential test of three LEDs with one sensor, for a substantial cost savings.  As with all of our LightProbes, the Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors are designed to utilize any one of our wide variety of fiber-optic probes.

Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensor LED Color Response

The Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors are general-purpose sensors for checking any one of the five main LED colors (blue, green, yellow/amber, orange, red, and also white.) Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensors check the LED color by providing a voltage output proportional to LED intensity only when the LED is the color specified for the Universal LightProbe Unicolor Sensor, e.g., B, G, Y, O, R or white. This eliminates the need to convert LED wavelength to visual color in the ATE software, which effectively improves the overall response time to test an LED.
